Spannabis Madrid ’18 is canceled, one of the best national cannabis fairs. Sad news appeared last week, and it has been confirmed this week. According to its official website, Spannabis Madrid has been canceled due to strict security terms by state forces on the fair.
Last year, the event got handicapped, with strict police controls and searches at the entrance and the exit of the venue, and on the roads next to the fair; moreover, smoking in the fair was prohibited, and it is thought that incognito state forces were in the area. These measures, by autonomous and municipal security forces, have removed the celebration of one of the biggest national cannabis fairs.
It is a pity that the capital of Spain, and one of the most European populated cities, loses its cannabis fair, an event gathering the whole cannabis sector; a way of silencing an increasing community and industry, not only in Europe, but also in the U.S.A. and South America.
Gea Seeds considers that government measures are totally against the social inertia of acceptance, regularization and legalization worldwide – Spain, Uruguay, the United States; in fact, talking about Spain, Barcelona, València, Irún, Sevilla and Bilbo have their own cannabis fairs, increasing year after year, and, in Europe, Athens, Rome, Tel Aviv (Near East), Berlin, Milan, Ostrava, Zurich, Bologna, Marseilles, Munich, Cologne, Birmingham, Vienna, Naples, Prague and Amsterdam have their own cannabis fairs too.
We expect the government to change the course of these events, so this legitimate fair could be allowed; it has been celebrated for years, and up to 200 cannabis companies used to attend it, together with thousands of attendees: Spannabis Madrid, a fair which cannot die.
