About our Fast Version seeds

The production of feminized seeds once revolutionized cannabis cultivation. The emergence of autoflowering strains was another major milestone, but what will likely define the decade from 2020 to 2030 are Fast Version seeds.

These are strains with a final result very similar to their photoperiod parent (usually more potent and productive than autoflowering genetics), yet shortening flowering times and making cultivation easier.

Gea Seeds has started working with this type of cross by introducing 4 strains: Fast Amnesia Pro, Fast Critical++, Fast Kush, and Fast Cheese. Two hybrid varieties, one sativa-dominant and the other very indica, that will surely please everyone. Give them a try! (Available from August 2022).

What are fast version seeds?

Fast or early version strains are the result of a first-generation (F1) cross between a seasonal photoperiod strain and an autoflowering one. Their structure, yield, and development are nearly identical to their photoperiod parent, requiring a change to a 12-hour photoperiod to trigger flowering.

These are 100% feminized photoperiod strains with the structure of seasonal plants but with a flowering time reduced by 1 to 4 weeks. This is crucial outdoors, where weather changes can ruin your work. Indoors, flowering time is shortened by 1–2 weeks, and outdoors it can be up to a month. Imagine harvesting in early September or even late August before the rains arrive in your area.

These seeds are perfect for both indoor and outdoor cultivation. Indoors, if well managed, you can get an extra harvest per year. Outdoors, you avoid late-summer problems while getting results similar to traditional feminized seeds.

Now it’s your turn to decide if you prefer an indica or sativa Fast Version, as with other seed types, you can also choose the flavor and effect you like the most.

Advantages of Fast Version seeds

The biggest advantages are all related to the shortened flowering phase, such as less working time, lower resource consumption (light, fertilizers, etc.), and less exposure time to potential pests.

Also, since these are first-generation hybrid crosses (F1), they show great heterosis, meaning strong vigor due to increased genetic variability or outbreeding, improving adaptability, yield, flower and node production, etc., without losing stability.

Another important point is that being feminized photoperiod strains, they produce female flowers and allow for vegetative propagation (cloning) from a mother plant — something that’s not possible with autoflowering strains.
